Scottish Sailors

Perhaps not thought of as great explorers the Scots have always been sailors and builders of ships. King James IV had the last great oak forest in Fife cut down for his Great Michael the largest warship of her day - Scotland had built the Death Star! Launched on 12 October 1511 at 1000 tons she had twice the displacement of her English contemporary Mary Rose, herself completed in 1510. No paintings remain of James's fleet but by examining records and ship designs I am slowly trying to correct that omission as well as filling in historical activity on the Caledonian Canal.
