The Butcher of Inverness

Being delivered this month is this large portrait

 

Annibale Carracci  of Bologna painted a  "Butcher's Shop" twice in the 1580's. One sat in the British Royal collection before its eventual donation to Christ College, Oxford in 1765 It's still there.

Fast forward and here is  an Inverness  veteran of the trade, flanked by his stock.
